Hopton Street
Originally called Green Walk, Hopton Street once boasted Holland’s Leaguer, the Soho House of brothels where ‘chastitye was a mere obsolete thynge’ according to Bess Holland, the Madame Sin of her day. The almshouses survive from the 1740’s. Built for ’26 poor persons’. Today they’re dwarfed by Neo Bankside & Bankside Lofts, but they have an ally in 67 Hopton St. This 320yr old tiny house defies the modern world around it.
