You’ll end up with 3+ of your own handmade A4 prints to hang on your wall or give as a gift!
We have partnered with M.Y.O. for this arty Frost Fair themed event in January!
Whether it’s bears, foxes or elephants, animals were a huge part of the Frost Fair spectacle and this workshop helps you create your own marvellous print. And you can BYOB too if you’re fancying a little tipple as you create your masterpiece.
Using a single block of A6 lino, you’ll be guided through how to create multiple lino prints in a variety of colours, themed around the animals found at historical Frost Fairs including bears, foxes and even an elephant! This workshop provides an introduction to the tools and techniques needed to print posters. You’ll draw your design, transfer it onto the lino, carve it out and then roll and apply ink, whilst experimenting with different methods for lino printing artworks on paper.
You’ll end up with 3+ of your own handmade A4 prints to hang on your wall or give as a gift!
This session is part of the Frost Fair which Better Bankside is running across December and January. Frost Fair is a homage to the area’s unique history, celebrating the characters and fascinating stories from past winters in the Southwark borough. There’s lots more happening across the area, find out more here.
This winter, Bankside is celebrating one of the most extraordinary events in London’s history – the Frost Fair. From circa 1605 to 1814, the surface of the River Thames froze over 24 times, bringing all trade on the water to a standstill. So the people of Bankside took to the ice, creating ‘Frost Fairs’, with a sensational cornucopia of markets, amusement, food, drink, games, pubs, shops, entertainment and general revelry!
Inspired by the area’s rich heritage and lively characters, Bankside has reinvented the Frost Fair for the 21st century. Immerse yourself in innovative augmented reality installations, follow our street art trails, feast on special Frost Fair themed food and drink and enjoy inspired workshops from lino-printing to wreathmaking.
To experience the augmented reality aspects of the Frost Fair art trail, download the Graffio AR App!

An informal all-day spot – as vibrant and artistic as its neighbourhood – Artyard’s enticing drinks menu serves up classics with a twist, making it a must visit for creative cocktails enthusiasts. They’re taking it to the next level this LCW, by celebrating art itself, their current artist-in-residence Corinne Natel to be precise. Corrine’s work has influenced their LCW cocktail Sub Tropical. This cocktail is artsy, upscale, yet laid-back, refreshingly long and robust in flavour. It’s made with a Thai basil-infused Toti rum, Falernum, Jasmin Verte, cucumber syrup, Peychard’s Bitters, tonic water & ginger ale.
Boiler & Co

They aim to showcase the versatility of whisky in the modern-cocktail scene…It is a hotspot you don’t want to miss! They are offering a Faux Banana Old Fashioned featuring Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Only £7 with a LCW wristband. It’s an amazing drink. Sea Containers
Designed by visionary Tom Dixon, Sea Containers Restaurant is an all-day dining experience. The yellow submarine above the bar plays on the maritime theme and gives it a twist by making it yellow (also a nod to The Beatles) and is an actual replica of a submarine – made by Premier Ship Models. Try their Figurehead (inspired by the mermaid figure set at the front of old sailing ships). It includes Mermaid Zest Gin, Italicus, Grapefruit, Lime, Sugar, topped with lemonade & crushed ice, garnished with mint leaves and grapefruit slice
The Distillery Bar

Inspired by this history, the bar mixes signature cocktails and uses homemade aromatics, infusions, and bitters to accent the drinks. Take your pick from their Rhuby Sour with Rhubarb gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white. Or maybe their Heartbreak with Amaretto, strawberry syrup and lemon juice.
