Mother’s Day at Macellaio

For Mother’s day, Macellaio have a special dish for the occasion!

“Mum, I have a surprise for you. Today you can relax, and I will cook”. This is what Roberto used to say to his mum every Mother’s day, unknotting the apron from her while finishing preparing the setting for a delicious lunch to celebrate the day.

The choice of dish was easy, lasagna al pesto. The dish she liked the most and, indeed, the one Roberto was best at. He would have gone the day before with dad to buy fresh basil pesto from the grocery down the road, together with butter, milk, flour and nutmeg for the creamy béchamel and a few boxes of lasagna sheets.
