Music, Masque and Murder at the Jacobean Court on The Golden Hinde
This event has now passed
On The Golden Hinde at 7pm on Thursday 7th and Wednesday 13th November.
The Lovekyn Consort will be performing an hour of songs and tunes from the Jacobean theatre, interspersed with readings by Lucy Hughes-Hallett from ‘The Scapegoat’ – her new biography of George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham and favourite of King James I of England.
William and Stephen have worked together for many years, principally performing music from sixteenth-century England Spain and seventeenth-century England using period plucked and wind instruments. They assembled the music in collaboration with Rob Gildon, baritone, and Lucy Hughes-Hallett, writer, for a performance in East Suffolk in the Summer of 2024.
The Golden Hinde is the ideal venue for this programme as it is a resonant, intimate space very similar to those used when the music we perform was written.
