“Mum, I have a surprise for you. Today you can relax, and I will cook”. This is what Roberto used to say to his mum every Mother’s day, unknotting the apron from her while finishing preparing the setting for a delicious lunch to celebrate the day.

The choice of dish was easy, lasagna al pesto. The dish she liked the most and, indeed, the one Roberto was best at. He would have gone the day before with dad to buy fresh basil pesto from the grocery down the road, together with butter, milk, flour and nutmeg for the creamy béchamel and a few boxes of lasagna sheets.

Albie has three bars so you never need to wait too long for your drinks, plus a spacious street side terrace for drinks alfresco. Why not try the Nordic Goose, with Grey Goose Vodka and dill & tarragon infused dry vermouth. Garnished with dill.

Art Yard Bar & Kitchen

An informal all-day spot – as vibrant and artistic as its neighbourhood – Artyard’s enticing drinks menu serves up classics with a twist, making it a must visit for creative cocktails enthusiasts. They’re taking it to the next level this LCW, by celebrating art itself, their current artist-in-residence Corinne Natel to be precise. Corrine’s work has influenced their LCW cocktail Sub Tropical. This cocktail is artsy, upscale, yet laid-back, refreshingly long and robust in flavour. It’s made with a Thai basil-infused Toti rum, Falernum, Jasmin Verte, cucumber syrup, Peychard’s Bitters, tonic water & ginger ale.

Boiler & Co

Boiler & Company, is an independent specialist cocktail and gastro bar which is conveniently located seconds from the Thames and the Tate Modern. They aim to showcase the versatility of whisky in the modern-cocktail scene…It is a hotspot you don’t want to miss! They are offering a Faux Banana Old Fashioned featuring Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Only £7 with a LCW wristband. It’s an amazing drink. Boiler & Co owner, Adam, infuses the whisky himself using banana skin and finely slices the banana, dehydrates it to create the stunning garnish. We previewed this drink at Cocktails in the City earlier this summer and it sold out every day.

Sea Containers

Designed by visionary Tom Dixon, Sea Containers Restaurant is an all-day dining experience. In the middle of the room you’ll find the monumental stainless steel island bar, serving up delicious drinks throughout the week. The yellow submarine above the bar plays on the maritime theme and gives it a twist by making it yellow (also a nod to The Beatles) and is an actual replica of a submarine – made by Premier Ship Models. Try their Figurehead (inspired by the mermaid figure set at the front of old sailing ships). It includes Mermaid Zest Gin, Italicus, Grapefruit, Lime, Sugar, topped with lemonade & crushed ice, garnished with mint leaves and grapefruit slice

The Distillery Bar

The Distillery pays homage to the hotel’s heritage by highlighting its gins and local craft beers. Inspired by this history, the bar mixes signature cocktails and uses homemade aromatics, infusions, and bitters to accent the drinks. Take your pick from their Rhuby Sour with Rhubarb gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white. Or maybe their Heartbreak with Amaretto, strawberry syrup and lemon juice.

What is Great Taste?

Recognised as a stamp of excellence and actively sought out by food lovers and retailers alike, Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, values taste above all else. All products in the line-up for judging are blind-tasted: every product is removed from its packaging so it cannot be identified and is judged purely on taste alone.

This year’s rigorous judging process featured comprehensive blind taste-testing of more than 14,000 products, taking place over 90 days across Dorset and London. This year’s line-up saw food and drink originating from 110 different countries from across the world take part.

Complimentary coffee and dog treats

FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS WELCOME AT LONDON’S MOST WELL-MANNERED COFFEE HOUSES

The Gentlemen Baristas partners with Lily’s Kitchen to offer complimentary coffee and dog treats this International Dog Day, 26th August 2022

August 2022:  The Gentlemen Baristas, London’s most well-mannered collection of coffee houses, is partnering with pet food brand Lily’s Kitchen to invite those with four legged friends for special treatment this International Dog Day, Friday 26th August.

From Piccadilly to Southwark all The Gentlemen Baristas’ guests with woofers will be greeted with a barista-made drink of their choice, delicious dog treats and a doggie bag, to celebrate International Dog Day and help raise awareness about the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, particularly since the rise of lockdown pets.

The gifts for four-legged friends include Lily’s Kitchen goodies, including: an On The Go Mealtime Bar, complete, proper nutrition in a handy bar format that fits neatly in your back pocket, Breaktime Biscuits, the perfect pre-lunch pick me up, a pack of Meaty Treats, and a tasty wet food complete meal.  The Gentleman Baristas, coffee culture custodians, with 10 houses across the capital and a roastery, believe customers are never an inconvenience. Whether your dog has become your new working from home buddy, or take to work buddy, this is a chance to drop in and celebrate with them.

In fact, because The Gentlemen Baristas like to do things differently, the well-mannered hosts will also be providing complimentary poo bags to boot for dogs on the go.

Ed Parkes, Director and co-founder of The Gentlemen Baristas comments; “Our coffee house managers remember all their regular’s names and know half the dogs about town!

“We want to show our appreciation and give something back to the community, whether it’s a hot cup of coffee and OTG treat for your morning walk or Breaktime Biscuit for your pooch, while you snuggle up on the sofa at home with a cuppa – it’s on the house.”

Samantha Crossley, Marketing Director at Lily’s Kitchen, says: “At Lily’s Kitchen we have always believed that four legged friends are part of the family. So, whether you’re out and about in London on an adventure or simply taking your usual morning stroll, pop by your local Gentleman Baristas on International Dog Day to enjoy a complimentary coffee for you and some Lily’s Kitchen treats for your woofer. One of our On The Go Bars is the perfect mini-meal for your dog when you’re out living your best lives together – and even better, it fits in your pocket!”

Henry Ayers, Co-Founder and Director of Wholesale added: “We believe superb coffee is for everyone, our house or yours, and just like Lily’s Kitchen, we believe every dog deserves proper food, even on the go.”
